Blunt implements a staple Bluetooth protocol stack for NewtonOS 2.1 devices. It provides two services: Connecting to a nonparallel Bluetooth port and object switch. The nonparallel port functionaltity throne be used to join via PPP to the Internet by using a cell phone or desktop computer. The object switch functionality allows sending of data from any Newton application and receiving of items from the Inbox application. Serial connectivity is merged into the Newton Internet Enabler via the NIE Nitro & Blunt Support module, object switch is office of Neo. It has been tested with the following hardware and software:
PICO Bluetooth PCMCIA menu
Taiyo Yuden intimate UART modules
AmbiCom Air2Net BT2000CF CompactFlash menu (raw model with purple antenna)
AmbiCom Air2Net BT2000E CompactFlash menu (old model, melanise antenna)
Nokia 3650, 6600
SonyEricsson T68i, T616
MacOS X
Windows 2000
Not working is the following hardware:
Belkin Bluetooth PC Card (a CardBus menu)
3com Wireless PC Card (contrastive nonparallel scrap)
IBM Bluetooth PC Card (contrastive nonparallel scrap)
Might work at some point:
Conceptronic Bluetooth PCMCIA menu (requires special nonparallel scrap initialization or firmware reprogramming)
Xircom Bluetooth PCMCIA menu (requires special nonparallel scrap initialization or firmware reprogramming)
